BIBLE STUDY #5
UNGODLY*, IDOLATROUS LUSTS:
A STUDY ON IDOLATRY IN ITS MANY BIBLICALLY UNLAWFUL FORMS (INCLUDING HOMOSEXUALITY, COVETOUSNESS AND OTHER SINS WHICH BRING ON THE WRATH OF YHVH)

Part Three

Leviticus 18:22
Part 3. THE ORDINANCES (COMMANDS) REGARDING HOMOSEXUALITY & OTHER ABOMINATIONS IN YAHSHUA’S LAW-BOOK
Leviticus 18:20-30 & Genesis 19:4-26
The unregenerate nature and lifestyle of unrepentant mankind are corrupt and have longings (setting the heart upon something), especially for what is forbidden by Yahweh. The Bible refers to these longings as lusts, some already having been discussed in this study. Note, not all the lusts that Christians are strongly warned to stay away from are carnal (physical) in nature, but many are. Any one of the lusts mentioned in YAHshua’s Word, if committed in a habitual and rebellious way, will bring about God’s wrath, spiritual delusion, and His judgment on the sinner. The “wrath” (reaching, violent punishment) of YHVH, as described in Romans 1:18 in Part 1, is against all ungodliness. YHVH considers the following ungodliness, though, to be particularly odious, and they are referred to as “abominations” (abhorrent and ceremonially or morally disgusting), worthy of severe judgment: adultery (having sex with someone else’s husband or wife; or race mixing which is another form of adultery); idolatry (which can involve human sacrifice); profaning His Holy name (His name is given following this commandment as part of the same sentence, so there is no mistakenly using His name in a contemptible, irreverent way); bestiality (having sex with animals and/or with sub-humans); and homosexuality. Homosexuality is defined as the following: male having sex with another male willingly or unwillingly (the latter being homosexuality and rape, which are hideously common in America’s prison system); female having sex with another female willingly or unwillingly; and bisexuality (which includes group sex of 3 or more people, i.e. a man and 2 women having sex together or visa versa and which can also include orgies). He forbids the Hebrews (both ancient and modern descendents of them) and any one who is their guest from doing these sins. These idolatrous types of sinners defile (make foul, especially in a ceremonial or moral sense, contaminate) the land.
In verses 24-25 of Leviticus 18 we find what happens to those who break the ordinances (preserving commands; dictionary: “an authoritative rule or law, a decree or command”) given in YAHshua’s Word, regardless of what nation they are part of, be they Hebrew or non-Hebrew. Verse 24 refers to the nations (various peoples) who lived in this land before the Hebrews came and conquered it (later becoming the Hebrews’ land of Israel). This word “nations” is the same word that has been translated as “Gentiles” and “heathen” and occasionally for “people” in the Old Testament. Pastor Comparet, in “Who are the Gentiles?”, concisely and clearly explains that “Gentiles” means “nation” in the Hebrew language of the Old Testament (#1471, “goy” singular, “goyim” plural). In the Greek language of the New Testament (#1484, “ethnos” being nearly always used for “Gentiles”) it simply means “nation, race, or people”, with no Israelite, pagan, non-Israel, nor non-Greek connotation. The word “Gentile” is not in the original languages of Hebrew in the Old Testament and Aramaic, then Greek in the New Testament. He went on to say that it could refer to Israelite people, [Mrs. Johnson’s comment: or a combination of the Israelites and the non-Israelites], and that one could tell from the context if that was the case, whether in the Old or the New Testaments. --
Leviticus 18:20: Moreover thou shalt not lie [#7903] carnally with thy neighbour's [#5997] wife, to defile [#2930] thyself with her.
21: And thou shalt not let any of thy seed [#2233] pass through the fire to Molech [#4432; see Part 17], neither shalt thou profane [#2490] the name of thy God: I am the LORD [#3068].
22: Thou shalt not lie with mankind [#2145], as with womankind [#802]: it is abomination [#8441].
23: Neither shalt thou lie with any beast [#929] to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast [#929] to lie down thereto: it is confusion [#8397].
24: Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations [#1471] are defiled which I cast out before you:
25: And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
26: Ye shall therefore keep my statutes [#2708] and my judgments [#4941], and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation [#249], nor any stranger [#1616] that sojourneth [#1481] among you:
27: (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
28: That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations [#1471] that were before you.
29: For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off [#3772] from among their people [#5971].
30: Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance [#4931], that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD [#3068] your God.

The destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah
Genesis 18:16 - 19:29 records the account of the destruction of Sodom (“from an unused root meaning to scorch; burnt (i.e. volcanic or bituminous) district”) and Gomorrah (#6017, “from 6014; a (ruined) heap; Amorah, a place in Palestine”) by YHVH because of its rampant homosexuality. Verse 4 says that “even the men [#582, enowsh] of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter” surrounded Lot’s house. As brought out before in Part 2, according to the “The American Institute of Theology Correspondence Bible Course”, the Hebrew word “enowsh” is “applied to non-Adamic races, which are all pre-Adamic” and that “some of them are found mingled among the Adamites.” (See the commentary before Deuteronomy 32 in Part 17; it mentions that some Bible scholars teach that these particular enowsh were the Canaanites, later to be called the Jews [racially].) The Hebrew word for “people” [#5971] in this passage of scripture is the same word that has been translated as “Gentiles” in the Old Testament (and “nations”, as mentioned in the commentary prior to the previous Bible verses, having no pagan or non-Israel connotations).
In verse 5 the word “yada” [#3045, pronounced yaw-dah'] is used by the sodomites, who wanted to have sexual intercourse (willingly or unwillingly) with the 2 angels (in appearance like men) who were guests of Lot. This word is used in a great variety of senses, all of them variations of the meaning of the word “knew”. The way that “know” [a variation of “knew”] in verse 5 is used is in the same sexual sense as that used in Genesis 4:1 where “Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived” and in Genesis 4:17 “And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived.” (See a teaching of the meaning of the word “yada” and how it has been made a part of present day American slang by a television situation Jewish comedy.)
All of Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding area were destroyed after the few righteous were removed from those cities and that land. In verse 17, Lot and his family were commanded by Yahweh (through by one of the angels) to not look behind at the city of Sodom. This word “look” means “to scan, i.e. look intently at; by implication, to regard with pleasure, favor or care”. Note that Lot’s wife was brought out of Sodom because she was initially righteous, but because she “looked back” with an idolatrous lust (a longing, a setting her heart upon something that was forbidden by YHVH) she was destroyed. –
Genesis 19:4: But before they [Lot, his family, and his 2 angel guests] lay down, the men [#582, enowsh, “properly, a mortal (and thus differing from the more dignified 120 adam) …)”; from #605] of the city, even the men [#582] of Sodom [#5467], compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people [#5971] from every quarter [#7097]:
5: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know [#3045] them.
6: And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7: And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly [#7489]. …17: And it came to pass, when they [the 2 angels] had brought them [Lot, his wife, & 2 daughters] forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look [#5027] not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. …
24: Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah [#6017] brimstone [#1614] and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
25: And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants [#3427, “properly, to sit down (specifically as judge. in ambush, in quiet); by implication, to dwell, to remain; causatively, to settle, to marry”] of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26: But his [Lot’s] wife looked back [#5027] from behind him, and she became a pillar [#5333] of salt.
Genesis 10:15-18, Genesis 15:18-21, Deuteronomy 20:17-18, Joshua 15:63, Judges 1:21, Judges 19:1-3 & v. 11-30, & Judges 20:12-14
The book of Judges in the Old Testament gives another example of an attempted mass, “vile”, homosexual rape. This time it was attempted by “certain sons of Belial”, who were some enowsh (#582, here translated “men” in Judges 19:16 & 22). These enowsh, “certains sons of Belial”, lived in the city of Gibeah that belonged to the tribe of Benjamin; and they wanted to have sexual intercourse (“yada”) with a visiting Levite. (“Belial” is another name for Satan, as found in II Corinthians 6:15 -- “And what concord (#4857, accordance) hath Christ with Belial [#955, “of Hebrew origin (#1100); worthlessness; Belial, as an epithet of Satan”]? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel [#571]”.)
Verse 16 (“but the men [#582, enowsh] of the place were Benjamites”) and previous Bible verses (in the block below) show the geographically close connection of the Canaanite Jebusites to the tribe of Benjamin and the physically close connection through Abram, with the Jebusites becoming tainted by unlawful (ungodly) marriage and procreation with the enowsh. My husband clarified this by pointing out that the enowsh (mentioned in verse 16) had been adopted into the tribe of Benjamin, some of whom had fallen into the sin of race-mixing with Pre-Adamic people. (Some Bible scholars teach that the Canaanites were later called the Jews [racially]. See Part 15 of this study.)
Instead of “knowing” (yada) the Levite man in a sexually perverted way, these enowsh (who were also sons of Satan, i.e. Belial; Judges 19:22) settled for the Levite’s concubine to satiate their idolatrous lusts. They raped her all night, and she died the next morning as a result of this unlawful, terrible maltreatment (abuse). The wicked deed of these occupants of Gibeah (the city of the tribe of Benjamin) was broadcast (literally) to the entire nation of Israel in a vivid manner by the Levite when he returned home. Chapters 20 and 21 of Judges continue on with the account, describing the resulting bloody civil war of the other tribes of Israel against the tribe of Benjamin. This was because the Benjamites would not turn over the children of Belial in Gibeah (for YHVH’s required execution of the death sentence for rape) to the other Israelites. (Read Deuteronomy 22:23-27 and its commentary in another of my Bible studies “Self-defense and Survival Preparedness for Women”.) At the completion of the fighting the soldiers of the tribe of Benjamin were very much decimated, but not totally wiped out. Also, all the males and all the female non-virgins of the Benjamite camp of Jabesh-gilead were also destroyed because of their rebellious lack of worship of YHVH (Judges Chapter 21). The Almighty had given the other 11 tribes of Israel the victory. --

Judges 19:1: And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.
2: And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father's house to Bethlehemjudah, and was there four whole months.
3: And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, and to bring her again …11: And when they [a traveling Levite (an Israelite), his unfaithful concubine and his servant] were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn in into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
12: And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger [#5237], that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.
13: And he said unto his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gibeah, or in Ramah.
14: And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.
15: And they turned aside thither, to go in and to lodge in Gibeah: and when he went in, he sat him down in a street of the city: for there was no man [#376, iysh; according to the AIT Bible Course, page 22, this can be applied to either an Adamite or a pre-Adamite and is used for mankind in general] that took them into his house to lodging.
16: And, behold, there came an old man [#376] from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men [#582, enowsh; “properly, a mortal (and thus differing from the more dignified 120 adam); hence, a man in general (singly or collectively)”] of the place were Benjamites.
17: And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a wayfaring man [#376] in the street of the city: and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?
18: And he said unto him, We are passing from Bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence am I: and I went to Bethlehemjudah, but I am now going to the house of the LORD; and there is no man that receiveth me to house.
19: Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine [#3196] also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man which is with thy servants: there is no want of any thing.
20: And the old man said, Peace be with thee; howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me; only lodge not in the street.
21: So he brought him into his house, and gave provender [#4554, fodder] unto the asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.
22: Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men [#582, enowsh] of the city, certain sons of Belial [#1100, “without profit, worthlessness; by extension, destruction, wickedness”; Satan], beset [#5437, surrounded] the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man [#376], saying, Bring forth the man [#376] that came into thine house, that we may know [#3045, yada] him.
23: And the man [#376], the master of the house, went out unto them, Nay, my brethren [#251], nay, I pray you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man is come into mine house, do not this folly [#5039, “feminine of 5036; foolishness, i.e. (morally) wickedness; concretely, a crime; by extension, punishment”].
24: Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile [#5039] a thing.
25: But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew [#3045] her, and abused [#5953, “to effect thoroughly; … by implication (in a bad sense) to overdo, i.e. maltreat …”] her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
26: Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down [#5307] at the door of the man's house where her lord was, till it was light.
27: And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down [#5307] at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the threshold.
28: And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going. But none answered. Then the man took her up upon an ass, and the man rose up, and gat him unto his place.29: And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the coasts of Israel.
30: And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider of it, take advice, and speak your minds. …
Judges 20:12: And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?
13: Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
14: But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
Ezekiel 16:46-58
Sodom is a figure of God’s judgment on vast, repulsive human sin. In the following Bible verses the lewdness and abominations of Judah were more than that of Sodom. –
Ezekiel 16:46: And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand [#8040]: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand [#3225], is Sodom [#5467] and her daughters.
47: Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations [#8441]: but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.
48: As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
49: Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
50: And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
51: Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done.
52: Thou also, which hast judged [#6419] thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded [#954] also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified [#6663] thy sisters.
53: When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them:
54: That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.
55: When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate [#6927], and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.
56: For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,
57: Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about.
58: Thou hast borne [#5375, “to lift…”] thy lewdness [#2154; from #2161] and thine abominations [#8441], saith the LORD.
Isaiah 1:2-10
Here is another excerpt from the Bible showing Israel’s vast sin being comparable to that of idolatrous Sodom’s. All of the Israelites would have been destroyed as Sodom and Gomorrah were (first morally, then physically), except YHVH of armies had left a remnant of godly (i.e. obedient to the law of God) Israelites. Pastor Joe Johnson gives an explanation of the word “remnant” in Isaiah 1:9 on the “Ouachita Mountains Aryan Migration Movement” page (along with the “Ozarks Migration Movement” page) of our Keltic Klan Kirk’s website. --
Isaiah 1:2: Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3: The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib [#18]: but Israel doth not know, my people [#5971] doth not consider [#995].
4: Ah sinful nation [#1471], a people [#5971] laden [#3515] with iniquity [# 5771, “perversity, i.e. (moral) evil”], a seed of evildoers [#7489, “properly, to spoil (literally, by breaking to pieces); figuratively, to make (or be) good for nothing, i.e. bad (physically, socially or morally)”], children that are corrupters [#7843]: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away [#2114] backward [#268; from #299]. …9: Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small [#4592; from #4591] remnant [#8300], we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
10: Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers [#7101, “from #7096 in the sense of determining; a magistrate (as deciding) or other leader”] of Sodom [#5467]; give ear unto the law [#8451] of our God [#430], ye people [#5971, has no pagan or non-Israel or Israelite connotations in this context] of Gomorrah [#6017].
Revelation 11:7-10
In Revelation 11 there is mentioned the wicked city of sin that is spiritually (figuratively) called Sodom and Egypt and is where Jesus was horribly crucified at an earlier time. This big (“great”) city’s occupants rejoice at the murder of two godly prophets; they then refuse to bury these who tormented them (spiritually) with their holy living. Evil people, living by the lusts of their flesh, find it painful for the light of Yahweh to be shown upon them. --
Revelation 11:7: And when they [Yahweh’s prophets, His “two witnesses”, verses 3-6] shall have finished their testimony [#3141, “evidence given (judicially or genitive case)”; from #3144, “a witness (literally (judicially) or figuratively (genitive case)); by analogy, a ‘martyr’”], the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8: And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually [#4153] is called Sodom [#4670] and Egypt, where also our Lord [#2962, kurios] was crucified.
9: And they of the people [#2992] and kindreds [#5443] and tongues [#1100] and nations [#1484 this word has no Israelite, pagan, non-Israel, nor non-Greek connotation; check out context] shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer [#863] their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10: And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice [#5463] over them, and make merry [#2165], and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
For more regarding the wickedness of homosexuality, see the commentary before II Timothy 3 scripture in Part 16 which describes multicultural communism in America. Multicultural communism/socialism is also known as political correctness. Whatever name it goes by, this system of beliefs twists the Holy Bible. One of multiculturalism’s perverted beliefs is that homosexuals are virtuous. For a better understanding of multicultural communism, which has so permeated this once great nation, see the (short) on-line book Political Correctness: A Short History of an Ideology. To understand how deeply this unlawful idolatry has pervaded American society, see Pastor Butch Paugh’s (Call to Decision Ministries) lengthy list of links to articles at ”Sodomy And Other Perversions.” An often spouted “excuse” in our multicultural society is that a person is a homosexual because he or she was born that way. That is a lie, as Yahshua’s Word clearly says in the above scriptures. This “lifestyle” of homosexuality (as it is popularly called) and the other recalcitrant, habitual lifestyles of unrepentant mankind (that includes women) are detested by YAHWEH and are worthy of His severe judgment. (Leviticus 18:20-30)
