A survivor, remnant, that which is left - survivor. A survivor, one escaped from a great slaughter.

 

8277 sarad saw-rad' a primitive root; properly, to puncture (Compare 8279), i.e. (figuratively through the idea of slipping out) to escape or survive:--remain.
