AGRARIANISM

11: He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.                   -- Proverbs 12:11    Holy Bible

The Agrarian Foundation

http://theagrarianfoundation.com/

Founded in 1994 by Mr. David E. Rockett of Monroe, Louisiana as The Southern League Foundation, the name was changed to The Agrarian Foundation for greater clarity. Donations should be mailed to, The Agrarian Foundation, 206 Rochelle Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana 71201.

What Does The Agrarian Foundation DO?

Educational Activities -- The educational activities of The Agrarian Foundation focus upon the integration of: 1) The historic Agrarian Tradition in social thought, 2) Agrarianism implicit in historic Christian theology, and 3) The dominance of Corporate-Global Statism. The Agrarian Foundation will use its newsletter, The Agrarian Steward, pamphlets, tapes, seminars, and books (through Amazon for now) to promote the social vision of cultural Agrarianism. This all will be set in contrast to the Modern and Urban status quo. Our letterhead slogan, ‘…landed property, humane economy, & independent community’ sumarises the agrarian vision, which Thomas Jefferson, among others, thought essential for true and lasting liberty.

Agrarian Land Developments -- The Agrarian Foundation will assist (via low or interest-free loans), families committed to living the agrarian vision, by helping them settle in communities of landed property. This program potentially involves three categories. 1) Settling families on landed properties close to established agrarian communities; 2) Developing and settling families in urban and suburban areas upon more productive landed property, and; 3) Developing and settling families within Intentional Agrarian Communities. It is estimated that Rural & Urban Agrarian Developments should comprise no more than 65% of the operating budget. This all could easily involve us in Local Buying & Currency Programs, Community Assisted Agriculture Programs, Urban & Rural Self-Reliance Programs, etc…

Are YOU A Potential Supporter? Find yourself below?

The Agrarian Foundation will attract a significant mass of zealots in natural segments of society already warm to the above vision. Others are likely to exist that are yet to be identified and segmented.

    1. Decided Agrarians -- already familiar with the ideals of historic Agrarianism.
    2. Cultural anti-Modernists -- concerned with the directions and problems of Modern culture.
    3. Anti-Globalists -- concerned with the dependencies of Modern Urban & Suburban living.
    4. Conservationists -- and responsible environmentalists concerned with the abuse of Creation.
    5. Communitarians -- already promoting Localism and Rural development.
    6. Social traditionalists -- and conservatives concerned about the loss of individual
      and local liberty.
    7. Economic Libertarians -- concerned about the dominance of Big Government
      and Big Business.
    8. Senior citizens -- concerned about the disappearance of farming communities.

The Deliberate Agrarian

http://www.thedeliberateagrarian.com/

"Back in June of 2005, I started an internet blog and named it The Deliberate Agrarian. I wrote stories there about my family and my Christian agrarian beliefs. I shined a light on the rottenness of our modern culture. I pointed an accusing finger at the failures of industrialism and the evil of corporate control over every area of our lives. I spoke of the dangers of relying on the “industrial providers” to supply all our needs in life. Then I wrote about the sweet and wholesome fruit that is produced in a life when modernism is rejected and faith, family and simple agrarian values are embraced."                             -- Herrick Kimball

Agrarianism

http://www.virginiainstitute.org/viewpoint/2002_15.html

Agrarianism.com

By Ted J. Smith III, Ph.D.

At this time of year it’s useful to recall what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they declared our independence. Almost all of them were committed to some form of agrarianism.

Agrarians believe that the best society is one composed largely of farmers who work their own land, local tradesmen and independent artisans, bound together in stable, harmonious communities in which citizens know one another as persons, not just roles. Under a regime of self-government, this arrangement offers both the greatest possible scope for the exercise of individual freedom, and the greatest possible incentive to exercise that freedom responsibly.

Agrarian ideals were dominant in America through the end of the 19thcentury, and in much of the South, Midwest, and West until well into the 20th. But they were gradually forced from the scene by the inexorable spread of industrialism, modernism, and the leviathan state.

Agrarianism

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agrarianism

Agrarianism is a social and political philosophy which stresses the viewpoint that the cultivation of plants, or farming leads to a fuller and happier life.

Southern Agrarians

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Agrarians

The Southern Agrarians or Vanderbilt Agrarians were a group of 12 American Traditionalist writers and poets from the Southern United States who joined together to publish the Agrarian manifesto, a collection of essays entitled I'll Take My Stand in 1930. They formed an important conservative branch of American populism.

Nordic Agrarian Parties

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_Agrarian_parties

Compared to Continental Europe, the peasants in the Nordic countries historically had an unparalleled degree of political influence, being not only independent but also represented as the fourth estate in the national diets, like in the Swedish Riksdag of the Estates. The "agrarian movement" thus precedes the labour movement by centuries in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.

The New Albany Declaration

A concise Southern Statement of belief

http://kelticklankirk.com/New_Albany_Declaration_CSA.htm

12th day of October 1996 A.D., at New Albany, Mississippi

Introductory Note: The New Albany Declaration was born in part, at least, because of the Great Southern League Race Debate. Many statements had been made by pro-Southern activists in that debate that were so very contrary to the beliefs Southerners have always held. This was a cause of great concern to many traditional Southerners holding traditional Southern beliefs.

Although members of all major Southern heritage groups were in attendance for the New Albany Conference, it is not actually a statement of what any of the groups will admit to believing. There is certainly pro-New Albany sentiment within every Southern heritage group. And I'm hopeful that as time goes by, that sentiment will grow by leaps and bounds.

The main points of agreement among the conferees were (1) the Southern people is composed of Northern European peoples who have moved here and formed families and communities. The Southern people are dominated by those of Anglo-Saxon and Celtic ethnic lineage. (2) The Southern people are a Christian people. (3) The Southern way of life is an agrarian way of life, which was explained to me as meaning that we hold a love for the land of the South. And when we are in Dixie, we know we are home. I certainly hold strongly to all three points. --- Dennis Wheeler

NEW ALBANY DECLARATION

All the natural world is based on loyalty to hearth and kin. Yet, in the West, historical regard for the integrity of distinct peoples and cultures is being submerged in a multicultural "melting pot." It will, if carried to its logical conclusion, overwhelm peoples of European descent. By subverting natural affinities, those in power commit the crime of genocide against Western peoples. It is the natural right of all peoples to seek their own survival and safety. Given the pace at which changes are unfolding, it has become necessary to seek political solutions that would have hitherto been unthinkable, that is the irrevocable separation of threatened peoples from governing bodies that no longer further their safety and well-being.

No distinct people is more threatened than the European-derived peoples who constitute the American South. In 1861, the United States government waged a war of destruction and annihilation against the Southern people, a war provoked .......

I. NATURAL RIGHTS OF A FREE PEOPLE

1. That we are a Christian people of Northwest European descent, with predominately Anglo-Celtic institutions, traditions, culture and heritage; wherever we may abide, we are bound by blood, loyalty and sentiment to the American South, comprising: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

2. That our historical and cultural identity was forged over a 400 year period of exploration, settlement and endeavor that created our distinct character, dialects, folkways, values and civilization. The War for Southern Independence was the crucible that transformed us into a people with a single purpose and destiny.

III. THE SOUTHERN CREED

16. That the agrarian origin of the Southern people confers a deep affection for nature and for the land; responsible stewardship over nature's bounty has ever been the duty of all Southerners.
