Confederate Partisan Ranger Shack
As a general rule of thumb keep your Cabins small. Ten by fourteen feet on the inside measurements is a good size for two militiamen or a husband and wife militia team. This is a comfortable and easily built size, and can be added onto later if time and need arises. If simply a part time camp and a true hide-away it can be built even smaller. For a 10 foot by 14 foot Log Cabin you will need Logs cut 13 foot and Logs cut 17 foot long, averaging about 1 foot in diameter at the stump end of the log. This gives you an average of 3 feet for where the logs overlap in a saddle joint, or 18 inches at each end of the log.
